Let’s Make Low FODMAP Birthday Cake Bliss Balls

Calling all kids! And/or maybe we can include those who are kids-at-heart (and palate). These Low FODMAP Birthday Cake Bliss Balls are not elegant or sophisticated.

They are colorful and fun – to eat and to make. And for the younger set who are following the diet, these just might be the treat they have been waiting for.

Birthday – or Any Day

I call these Birthday Cake Bliss Balls because of the sprinkles. A few years ago, all over the Internet, it seemed as though anything with multi-colored sprinkles – be it cake, cupcakes, cake balls, blondies, doughnuts or whatever – was deemed “birthday”.

I guess it sort of makes sense to me and who am I to break a new tradition.

That said, while these are birthday party-worthy, they are fun for any day, too.

Warning: These are sweet. Very. The ground flaxseed temper the sweetness a tiny bit and add nutrition.

Low FODMAP Birthday Cake Bliss Balls

These Low FODMAP Birthday Cake Bliss Balls are fun to make - even with the kids!

Low FODMAP Serving Size Info: Makes 24 balls; 12 servings; serving size 2 balls

Makes: 12 Servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Author: Dédé Wilson

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  1. Place oats, PB, maple syrup, flaxseeds and vanilla extract in a bowl and stir together very well with a sturdy wooden spoon, large, firm silicone spatula or your hands until thoroughly combined. We like to use our stand mixer fitted with the flat paddle and highly recommend this approach. Once the mixture is thoroughly and evenly combined, fold in the colored sprinkles.

  2. Roll the mixture into small, bite-size balls about 1-inch (2.5 cm) across. We use a tiny scoop to help the process. If the mixture is too soft, simply cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm enough to roll. If you like, you can add a few extra sprinkles to the outside of the balls as well as shown. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze up to 1 month.
