Seasonal hiring is upon us, so let’s take a look at holiday hiring announcements. Retailers are predicted to add 410,000 seasonal positions, the lowest since 2008, due to inflation affecting labor costs.
Still, you can find seasonal jobs if you know where to look! Hourly wages vary; take a look at Amazon and UPS, which are offering rates of more than $20 per hour, (with some Amazon locations going up to $28 per hour).
Amazon
Amazon is hiring 250,000 workers at $20.50 per hour for customer fulfillment and delivery driver positions.
United Parcel Service (UPS)
United Parcel Service (UPS) is hiring 100,000 seasonal positions, primarily delivery drivers, starting at $21 per hour.
Bath & Body Works
Bath & Body Works seeks 30,000 in-store employees and 2,500 distribution center workers. The jobs include “flexible schedules and a 40 percent storewide discount,” and candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. In addition, there are opportunities to transition to longer-term roles.
Best Buy
Best Buy lists 4,000 seasonal jobs, including retail and warehouse roles, as well as Geek Squad and delivery drivers.
1-800-Flowers Inc.
Do you know 1-800-Flowers Inc.? You might, and not even realize it. They are the parent company of brands such as Harry and David, The Popcorn Factory and PersonalizationMall.com, and they are hiring 8,000 seasonal workers.
Dick’s Sporting Goods
Dick’s Sporting Goods is adding 8,600 team members with competitive pay and a 25% store discount. You can apply in-store or online.
Kohl’s
Kohl’s offers “thousands” of positions with a 15% discount. Sign up online for seasonal hiring alerts.
Macy’s
Macy’s is hiring 38,000 retail and distribution center employees with starting pay at $15 per hour. This includes their Bloomingdales and BlueMercury stores.
Target
Target plans to add 100,000 seasonal team members with flexible schedules and pay ranging from $15 to $24 per hour. They say that they have jobs for those who have very specific schedule availability and that they will accommodate. Someone test this out and let us know how it went.
