Spicy Apple Old-Fashioned

A low FODMAP amount of apples combines with whiskey, lemon and Simple Syrup for a perfect fall drink.

Ingredients:

  • 20 grams of Pink Lady apple peeled and chopped
  • 1 ounce (2 tablespoons/30 ml) whiskey
  • ½ ounce (1 tablespoon/15 ml ) Simple Syrup
  • 1 ounce (2 tablespoons/30 ml) lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper you can switch this to cinnamon if you want something a little more traditional
  • Ice

Preparation:

  1. Place your apple pieces and whiskey in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and muddle the apples until they are fairly well crushed up.

  2. Add Simple Syrup, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and six ice cubes.

  3. Shake until the ice breaks into tiny pieces. It should look almost like crushed ice from an icemaker. 

  4. Pour without straining into a highball glass and serve.
