Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (455 g) slender green beans, ends trimmed as needed

Preparation:

  1. Place steamer basket/insert in a large pot. Pour in enough water to a level just below the basket. Add beans to rest on top of the steamer insert. Cover the pot and bring the water to a boil. Cook for about 5 minutes or until beans are crisp-tender.

  2. Beans are ready to serve.

Notes:

Tips

  • Many steamer inserts have a little ring on a middle stem. You can grab that ring with sturdy tongs and lift the basket right out of the pot. If you keep it level, the beans won’t fall out. You can also grab the beans with the same tongs to remove from the basket when they are finished cooking.
