Ingredients:

  • 3 to 5 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 sections of a navel orange
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) vodka
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) sparkling water
  • Ice

Preparation:

  1. In the bottom of a highball glass muddle your basil with the sugar. Really be aggressive with the muddling to release the oils from the basil leaves.
  2. Peel and section a naval orange. Remove seeds. Add two or three sections to the glass.
  3. Add vodka to the glass and use your muddler to kind of break up the orange and mix the ingredients.
  4. Top with ice and sparkling water.
