Resources

If you have to live with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), it is best to surround yourself with support. We are a primary source of education, inspiration, and the information you need to thrive every day, such as recipes and evidence-based articles written by Monash-trained Registered Dietitians (RDs).

We’ve expanded our Resource Section to be able to make it easier for you to find free and affordable downloadable tools, access low FODMAP support programs, find a low FODMAP experienced dietitian, and know where to look for even more great information or support.

Monash University & The Low FODMAP Diet

Monash University researchers developed the low FODMAP diet. You can read about the diet from their perspective as well as find links to their smartphone apps (iPhone and Android), which we highly recommend. They are constantly adding new information and this is the best place to keep up to date with their FODMAP team, who are on the cutting edge of emerging FODMAP science.

FODMAP Friendly Food Program

FODMAP Friendly, one of the leaders in the low FODMAP landscape, was founded by Tim Mottin and Sue Shepherd. Sue had previously been on the research team at Monash University that developed the low FODMAP diet.

Low FODMAP Scanner Apps

spoonful-fodmap-scanner
Use your smartphone to scan the barcode within the Spoonful app to see the FODMAP status of the product.

Low FODMAP scanner apps help take the guesswork out of grocery shopping by allowing you to scan barcodes and quickly evaluate whether packaged foods may fit your low FODMAP needs. We work with both Fig and Spoonful, both of which allow users to scan products and review ingredient insights. Spoonful also includes hundreds of our own FODMAP Everyday® recipes.

These tools can be especially helpful during the Elimination Phase, when label reading becomes more complex and time-consuming.

Highlights:

  • Barcode scanning for packaged foods
  • Must be used WITH Monash University app for accuracy
  • Ingredient flagging based on FODMAP triggers
  • Helpful for shopping efficiency and label learning
  • Regular database updates (varies by app)
  • Convenient for use in-store or at home
