The fatal confrontation began inside the family home over an expensive smartphone purchase that was beyond their financial reach.
Local authorities identified the deceased as eighteen-year-old Kunal Chandgude, his forty-eight-year-old father Murlidhar Chandgude, and his mother Sangita Chandgude, all residents of the Zalta Phata area. According to police officials, the household had been navigating difficult financial conditions, with Murlidhar working as a driver and serving as the sole earning provider for the entire family.
When Kunal demanded a new iPhone, his father explained their limited financial circumstances and refused the purchase. The refusal deeply upset the teenager, creating severe emotional tension that quickly spiraled out of control.
Police noted that the family found itself trapped between the young man’s intense desires and their reality, culminating in Kunal leaving the house in distress to head toward the nearby hills.

Upon realizing their son had ascended the dangerous terrain around ten in the morning, Murlidhar and Sangita immediately followed him up the hill to plead with him to return home safely.
