North West Says She Wants To Work At Starbucks Next Year: “I Want To Have A Regular Job”

North West has already started building a music career, but she has another goal in mind for when she turns 14: working at Starbucks.

The 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Ye said during an interview for Dazed’s autumn 2026 print issue with journalist Marios Mystidis that she wants to work at Starbucks when she turns 14 because she wants to experience having a “regular job.”

The comment came as North continues developing her music career. She released her debut EP N0rth4evr in May 2026 and has said she wants to keep creating music.

North wants the experience of having a job, but the opportunity she mentioned may not align with Starbucks’ usual hiring requirements.

North West Explains Why She Wants a Starbucks Job

North West’s reason for wanting to work is straightforward: she wants to know what having a regular job feels like.

During her Dazed interview, North was asked what she would do if she were not an artist. She explained that basketball was no longer the direction she wanted to pursue, then said she would like to work at Starbucks.

“I still wanna work. I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year. I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14, so… I think I can. I want to have a regular job, I guess,” North said.

She also discussed her approach to music and the advice she has received about her career. North said the worst advice was being told to wait before starting.

“To start my career later. It’s like, nah, this is my hobby, this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life,” she said.

The two ideas came up together in the interview: North wants to keep doing music while also wanting to work in a workplace outside of performing.

Starbucks’ Hiring Rules Create a Question Around Her Timeline

North believes she can work at Starbucks at 14, but the company’s standard U.S. hiring age is higher.

Federal labor rules allow some teenagers to work at 14 under certain conditions, but companies can set their own minimum ages. Starbucks generally requires employees in its U.S. stores to be at least 16 years old for entry-level positions such as barista roles.
