Kylie Jenner is used to pregnancy rumors following her everywhere, but this time she revealed something far more personal: why she decided to give herself time before having more children.
Kylie Jenner has been hearing speculation about possible pregnancies since she was a teenager. Over the years, she says she has stopped trying to control every rumor about her body and learned to let the public eventually find its own answers. When recent whispers surfaced that she and boyfriend Timothée Chalamet could be expecting a child together, Jenner responded with humor rather than panic.
During an August 26 episode of the Better Half podcast with friends Victoria Villarroel and Anastasia “Stassie” Karanikolaou, she admitted she assumes people will eventually figure out the truth without her having to step in. But behind the latest speculation is a much bigger conversation Jenner has been having about motherhood, recovery, and the years she feels she missed while becoming a parent so young.
At 25, she made herself a promise: she would not have another child during her 20s. Her reason wasn’t to close the door forever. It was about making room for herself.
The Promise She Made at 25
Jenner didn’t describe a passing thought. She described a decision shaped by how motherhood changed her early adulthood.
In a Who What Wear cover profile, Jenner explained that she wanted to experience the second half of her 20s differently after becoming a mother so young.
“I made a promise to myself at 25 that I was not going to have any more children — right now — and really just enjoy the last half of my 20s because the first half was like, ‘You’re pregnant,’ and then it’s the year of recovery, and, you know, my mental state, my postpartum depression, and all those things. It felt like I lost some of those young years of my life,” she said.
Jenner became a mother of two before turning 25. She shares daughter Stormi, 8, and son Aire with ex Travis Scott. While her relationship with Chalamet has fueled renewed speculation about her future plans, Jenner has not confirmed a pregnancy, engagement, or any plans to expand her family.
The wording of her promise matters. She said “right now,” leaving space for the future while making clear that she is choosing a different pace at this stage of her life.
“The Thought of Carrying Another Baby Right Now Feels Insane”
Before addressing pregnancy rumors publicly, Jenner had already shared how she feels about having another child.
On an episode of the reality series The Girls, Jenner spoke with friend Yris Palmer, who was considering surrogacy for another baby. The conversation eventually turned toward whether Jenner would ever consider having another child herself.
Her answer was immediate.
“Trust me, the thought of carrying another baby right now feels insane,” Jenner said.
When asked about surrogacy, she did not completely rule it out. “I don’t want to say no, but I’m like 99.9% sure I couldn’t do that,” she said. Jenner explained that both of her children were “big, healthy babies,” and said there was “no reason for me to really have a surrogate.”
Her response reflects the same position she shared in her recent interview. She is not announcing that she will never have another child, but she is clear that pregnancy is not something she currently sees fitting into her life.

Not Every Rumor Gets a Response

Jenner has spent years watching people create stories about her life, and she says she no longer feels the need to answer every one.
During the Better Half podcast conversation, Jenner said pregnancy speculation has followed her for years, and she has learned to find the humor in it.
“I think that I’m so used to people creating their own narrative that I actually have to just laugh about it and I really don’t care,” she said.
She added that she does not plan to respond to every rumor because reality eventually becomes obvious. Much of the current speculation comes from public interest in her relationship with Chalamet, which has become more visible over time.
At a Golden Globes ceremony earlier this year, Chalamet thanked his “partner of three years” during his speech, saying, “Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you.”
Still, neither Jenner nor Chalamet has announced a pregnancy, engagement, or shared family plans.
For Jenner, the approach is simple: she does not feel responsible for correcting every assumption. Life eventually tells the story.
A Year for Brave Things
For Jenner, taking a break from expanding her family is also about exploring parts of herself she feels she put aside.
In the same profile, she described this stage of her life as a chance to do “brave things” and pursue opportunities she had delayed.
Jenner said she has received movie offers but has not yet found the right project. She recently took a small role in Charli XCX’s film The Moment, which she described as a step toward exploring more screen work.
Her focus now is not only on what comes next as a mother, but also on what comes next as an individual.
After having two children by 24 and navigating the physical and emotional realities that followed, Jenner is permitting herself to move differently. Her comments about future children and surrogacy leave possibilities open, but the bigger message is about control over her own timeline.
For years, much of the public conversation around Jenner has centered on appearances, rumors, and expectations. This time, she is talking about something more personal: what it means to reclaim parts of life that she feels she missed.
Jenner says she felt like she lost some of her youth after pregnancy and recovery in her early 20s. How often do people understand that tradeoff before they experience it themselves?
