More than two years after a Savannah night out turned into a headline-making legal battle, Alaia Baldwin Aronow has reached a new stage in her criminal case.
Hailey Bieber’s older sister, 33, entered a pre-trial diversion program connected to a February 2024 incident at Club Elan, a River Street bar in Savannah, Georgia. The agreement keeps her out of jail for now, but it does not erase the charges or close the case completely.
The arrest became one of the stranger celebrity news stories of recent years, involving a staff-only bathroom, several bar employees, and an allegation involving a used tampon. But behind the viral details is a more complicated legal process that has continued quietly since the original headlines faded.
Aronow’s diversion agreement changes the direction of the case, but it also leaves several questions unanswered.
A Deal, Not a Verdict
Court records obtained by TMZ confirm Aronow entered the diversion program, accepted prosecutors’ offer, and paid the required program fee.
The arrangement reportedly includes classes and possible fines, though additional conditions have not been publicly revealed. The four misdemeanor charges filed against her, including simple assault, simple battery, battery, and criminal trespassing, remain pending while she completes the requirements of the program.
Pretrial diversion in Georgia offers some defendants an alternative to moving through a traditional criminal prosecution, where they can complete specific conditions set by the agreement. The final outcome depends on whether they meet those conditions.
According to PEOPLE, an arraignment has been scheduled for Aug. 25. The full terms of Aronow’s agreement, including how long the program will last and what specific requirements she must complete, have not been made public.
A Girls’ Trip That Ended at the Chatham County Jail
The night began as a pre-wedding celebration for a friend before an argument over an employee restroom changed everything.
TMZ reported that Aronow was in Savannah on Feb. 24, 2024, attending a friend’s pre-wedding trip. That night at Club Elan on River Street, the situation escalated over a staff bathroom that was reportedly not open to customers.
Security footage showed Aronow entering the employee-only restroom. After two bouncers and a bartender told her to use the public facilities, employees alleged the confrontation became physical.
One bouncer told police Aronow pulled out some of his hair. Another claimed that while he held her in a bear hug, she kicked him in the genitals. Aronow was arrested and booked into Chatham County Detention Center before posting bail later that same night. Those accounts were included in the police report, but the court has not established them as findings.
The Tampon Allegation That Defined the Case
Bartender Haleigh Cauley alleged a used tampon made contact with her face, but later details added complexity to that moment.

The allegation quickly became the most talked about part of the incident. Aronow had asked to use the employee restroom because she felt unwell and needed to change her tampon. Staff reportedly allowed her a short amount of time inside.
After she came out, Cauley alleged Aronow threw the used tampon at her. He later offered more detail, saying Aronow did not release the tampon or throw it across the room. Instead, she said it remained in Aronow’s hand and swung upward during the confrontation before making contact with her face.
The two versions of the encounter differ, and the court has not decided which is true.
Aronow’s own explanation also changed over time. She first told police she had not thrown the tampon, later acknowledged that she had, and said she acted in self-defense. Her attorney previously described the incident as a “celebratory girls night out” that “unfortunately took an unexpected turn.”
The attorney also said to TMZ that Aronow was “embarrassed and saddened by the events of that night” and was “proactively taking the necessary steps to ensure that it never happens again.” Those statements reflect her legal team’s position and are not court findings.
Why a 2024 Arrest Became a 2026 Legal Story
The misdemeanor charges were filed in January 2026, almost two years after the Savannah arrest.
The case’s timeline has received less attention than the incident’s unusual details. Aronow was arrested and released on bail in February 2024, but the formal charges did not arrive until January 2026.
Aronow’s family connections also drew attention to the case. She is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and the older sister of Hailey Bieber, whose public profile has made the family widely recognizable.
The upcoming Aug. 25 arraignment could provide more information about the case’s next steps.
Until then, Aronow’s diversion agreement marks a significant shift, but it is not a verdict or final judgment.
