Monash University Low FODMAP Patient Course: Overview & Review

The Monash University Low FODMAP Patient Course consists of 5 modules and is written with patients in mind. There is no jargon or complicated language and the course will teach you how to understand your IBS as well as how to manage your symptoms using the clinically proven low FODMAP diet.

And for those of you who might not be aware, Monash University is the birthplace of and the most respected primary source for information about the low FODMAP diet. This course is like having the researchers who developed the diet hold your hand every step of the way.

Why I Took The Patient’s Course

I have completed the Monash University Dietitian’s Course, but that course is pricier, much more in-depth and geared towards medical professionals. Having completed that course it was not necessary for me to take the Patient’s Course, except that I wanted to be able to report on it and have a strong understanding of what Monash was offering the public.

Being full-time FODMAP educators it is important for us to know what is out there in terms of education for those interested in and/or following the diet.

Hands down, this Patient’s Course is the most reputable and thorough course available for those following the diet. Period.

How the Monash University Low FODMAP Patient Course Works

There are 5 modules designed to cover all the essential topics as determined by those who developed the diet, including:

  • The importance of an accurate IBS diagnosis.
  • What FODMAPs are.
  • Where FODMAPs are found.
  • How to implement the 3 steps of the diet.
  • Understanding whether your IBS symptoms are FODMAP related.
  • What to do if your IBS symptoms do not improve on a low FODMAP diet.
  • Overview of additional therapies to help manage IBS symptoms.

The course is made up of interactive elements including videos, infographics, question & answer flip-card mini quizzes, sorting activities and interactive charts.

The consistent and continuous reading, reviewing and testing of the content helps the patient (YOU!) retain the necessary information – plus, it’s kind of fun!

The course is taken online and can be accessed by anyone in the world. Once you register you have 12 months to complete the course, all in the comfort of your own home. We recommend you do it all at once, though. I think you will retain the information better if you complete it within the same month that you begin.

And, there is even a FREE PREVIEW of Module 1 that you can access for a two-week period. I promise you, if you take the free tour you will see just how beneficial this course is.
