Barbie has a complicated relationship with food. We all know that her figure is a human impossibility, but was food even portrayed in Barbie’s world? And if Barbie were to enter the real world, what would her food look like? Several food manufacturers say they know.
Look to 1965
In 1965 Slumber Party Barbie was released. The package included the slender, curvaceous doll, pajamas, curlers, bobby pins, a brush, and a scale permanently set to 110 pounds, in addition to a book titled, “How to Lose Weight.”
Collectors would likely pay a fortune for a mint version. There are newer slumber party Barbies available on eBay, at reasonable prices, but we couldn’t find an original available at the moment.
If the scale is your focus, we did find one on Etsy.
I guess the answer is, Barbie doesn’t eat much at all.
Food Collabs
In the real world, leading up to the release of the barbie movie, many food manufacturers have collaborated on products – many of them quite pink. And sparkly.
Cold Stone Creamery – Glittery Pink Ice Cream
Cold Stone Creamery partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures and Mattel to bring us Pink Cotton Candy ice cream. This Barbie-inspired flavor is available in-store and online on its own for a limited time, while supplies last.
They are offering an “All That Glitters is Pink Creation”, which is made from the Pink Cotton Candy Ice Cream with graham cracker pie crust crumbles, “Dance Party Sprinkles” and whipped topping.
There is also a cake you can order for your Barbicore parties. The Cold Stone Press Release states: “Layers of moist Yellow Cake and Pink Cotton Candy Ice Cream with Dance Party Sprinkles wrapped in fluffy White Frosting.”
The company is also running a Barbie The Movie Sweepstakes, with a chance to win themed prize packages, including movie tickets via Fandango, Cold Stone Creamery gift cards and a grand prize that includes a Barbie Dreamhouse.

Burger King Brazil
If eating pink food entices, then you might like this Pink Burger, from Burger King Brazil. It features a burger patty topped with a slice of melted cheddar cheese, a smokey pink sauce, and crispy bacon, tucked into a brioche bun.
Barbie Pasta, At Whole Foods No Less
Whole Foods Market decided Barbie and pasta were a match made in pink heaven. They are offering a whole line of pastas made by Pastifica Di Martino.
The Barbie Pennette Rigate is tiny penne, in a Barbie pink package. The pasta might not be pink, but that is easily solved with a pink vodka sauce.

We Can See Barbie Eating Pinkberry
If there was ever a natural collaboration for Barbie, it might be this one with Pinkberry. The name says it all.
The brand has debuted Barbie Land Berry Pink frozen yogurt. It is a strawberry and dragon-fruit flavored yogurt, topped with “Dream Sprinkles”, which are made up of pink and white sprinkles, silver sugar and sugary stars.
Krispy Kreme Is On Board
In the Philippines, Krispy Kreme is several doughnuts: The Original, The Dreamer, and The Girl Boss, which have blue icing and pink and blue sprinkles, and The Barbie, which is pink, with a sparkly glaze.
To wash it down they have the Cotton Candy Chiller, a combo of a “kreme” base, cotton candy flavor and pink “glittergelli,” which, is just what it sounds like – jelly full of glitter. But that’s not all; it gets topped with whipped cream, sprinkles and “Barbie candy”.
There’s Pink Lemonade – Of Course!
The beverage brand Swoon has come out with a zero-sugar pink lemonade with a strawberry-lemon flavor. The brand boasts that it is made with 100% natural lemon juice concentrate, and is paleo-friendly, gluten-free and keto.
10% of net profits from these specific sales will support the Barbie Dream Gap Project, which provides resources, curriculum, skills development and leadership opportunities to girls between the ages of 5 and 10 across the world.

Barbie Inspired Cafés – Official and Not
Chicago and New York boast a Malibu Barbie Café, which is apparently not an official movie collaboration. They have been open for months, and the idea is to transport you to 1970s Malibu the moment you enter.
The bright colors and retro beach motifs do just that, as does the life-size Barbie “box”, so that you can set inside, become your best barbie, and snap away for photo-ops.
The menu, of course, continues the theme with Pacific Paradise Pancakes, West Coast Wave Wedge Salad, a California Dreamin’ Club Sandwich, and the Anything is Possible Sundae.
Texans & Californians, Unite!
SusieCakes has 13 locations in Texas and California and you they can help you throw a Barbie Party with any one of their cakes, cupcakes and cookies.
There are several pink cakes, sparkly cupcakes, rainbow sparkle Snickerdoodle cookies and their showstopping Malibu Barbie Cake. It does require 24 hours’ notice and will be available through September 4th. It will set you back $195 and is only available at their retail stores.
W Hotel Osaka Get In On The Action
In Japan, the W Hotel in Osaka has the Barbie Movie Café, which will be open until September 15th, 2023.
Their Sweets Box includes a Summer Land mocktail, macaron, Caramel Nut Tart, Cup Cake, chocolate, Cheese cake, Mango Mousse, Mini Donuts as well as savory bites: Mini BBQ Cheese Burger, Mini Corn Dog, French Fries, and “free-flow” coffee and tea. It costs 4,800 yen, which is about $38.85 US.
Non-Food Collabs
Food isn’t the only Barbie inspiration we are seeing. Aldo has a Barbie inspired collection of shoes (sneakers to stilettos), handbags, sunglasses, and jewelry, with the motto “Fun, Fearless & Larger Than Life.” Zara offers Barbie-esque clothing, including pink and white gingham dresses, one-piece denim rompers, menswear and plus-sizes, as well. There is Barbie inspired furniture, hat boxes, candles, rugs, fragrances, boats, – and the piece de resistance, an actual Airbnb human-size Dreamhouse.
